Child safety standards

ApnaChat (ApnaChat: Talk & Connect) is only for adults aged 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), on ApnaChat and on our website.

What is not allowed:

  • Any sexual content involving a person under 18, in any form: text, photos, voice notes, calls or links.
  • Grooming, enticing, or asking a minor for sexual content or a meeting, and any attempt to sexualise a minor.
  • Sharing, asking for, or trading child sexual abuse material.
  • Using ApnaChat while under 18. Accounts that belong to anyone under 18 are closed and the data is deleted.

How we prevent it:

  • ApnaChat is for people aged 18 and over only. This is stated in our Terms, our Privacy Policy and the store listing.
  • Every listener is reviewed and approved by us before they can take calls or chats.
  • Every conversation is one to one. There are no public groups, rooms or open feeds.
  • People can block a listener, and report a chat from inside the app, and reports are reviewed by our team.
  • Voice calls are not recorded. We do not currently scan messages automatically, so we rely on reports and on review by our team.

How to report a concern:

  • In the app: Go to Account -> Help and Support -> New Ticket -> Report a listener

Describe about the child safety concern in the “Describe the problem” box.

  • By email: write to support@apnachat.in with the subject “Child safety”. Please include the name shown, the date and a short description. Do not send or forward any images of children.
  • If a child is in immediate danger, call 112 (emergency services) or 1098 (Childline) right away.

What we do when we receive a report:

  • We treat child safety reports as our highest priority and review them first.
  • We remove the content and suspend or permanently remove the accounts involved.
  • We keep the records the law requires (account details and the report) and share them with the authorities.
  • We report confirmed or suspected child sexual abuse material and exploitation to the relevant authorities, including Indian law enforcement and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in), as required by the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and the Information Technology Act, 2000, and we cooperate with their investigations.

Our contact for child safety and CSAM prevention is support@apnachat.in. You can also reach the Grievance Officer named in our Privacy Policy.
